A Handy “power tool” to pull out at a moment’s notice when there is a “hint of its need.
But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31 NKJ)

derstands what you are going through AND knows how to get you through it in Christ. “
WHAT: Praise is the doorway to the kingdom
. It’s the first thing Jesus did when he
showed us how to pray the Lord’s Prayer. Praise went before the ark when David brought
it into the city. The angels praise and worship the Lord in song 24 hours a day
(Rev 4:8)! What do they know that we don’t?
God’s word shows over and over again
that praise breaks strongholds, like the praise that brought down the walls of Jericho.
What walls do YOU need bringing down?
WHEN: First thing. When you’re barely awake and before the cares of the day start to sneak in, praise the Lord. You can’t praise properly when you are thinking of what you need to make for breakfast or you’re trying to problem solve that job that’s on your desk.
(I have to add here that after a year of doing this, I started taking my praise and “pure worship” songs “on the road”, my ipod and me, on “Worship Walks”, my morning exercise routine, praising God the WHOLE TIME!. This also helped me through the hurdles of exercise but I also have to share that the Lord had me fall to my knees numerous times and I was thankful that the paths I walked were not crowded at those times.)
WHERE: In your special place of quiet that you create in your mind before the Lord. Remember that He is NOT FLESH, so we must meet Him IN THE SPIRIT, And the best place to do that is when we get OUT of the flesh (again, the cares of the day) and into our spirit where our soul connects spirit to Spirit.
HOW: Again, another discipline that is hard to do because the enemy will mess with
your mind and put other distractions in the way. He KNOWS that abiding in Christ
is the most important thing you can do.
Philippians 2:10 says that at the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow, in heaven, on the earth and UNDER the earth. This is warfare and you will have to fight to pursue this holy place, But we know that at the name of Jesus, all knees must bow and so we come into agreement with all the worshippers where His presence is known and power is released. This article is the way that I was shone, but you’ll have to find the way works for you.
When the Lord spoke to me about this, I had “prophetic music” CD’s: music that I knew to be focused solely on worship and not on ourselves, which a lot of “Christian music” can be. True devotion is “YOU ARE HOLY, YOU ARE WORTHY OF ALL MY PRAISE” and not “I am a sinner and I need you”.
If you do not have such music, get it! I have awesome resources on the music page here at The Healing Source that I cannot get through any day without, so please check them out. The music of the Rivera’s will play as soon as you open the page.
Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name (Hebrews 13:15).
“COME INTO AGREEMENT” with the worshippers, emptying out your mind and praising him until you are out of yourselves, and can start to feel something “more” happening. This is hard to explain but when you experience it, you’ll know what I’m talking about. Stay there until you receive “the blessing.” This can take an hour, or when you do it more often, only 5 minutes, so start developing your “spiritual muscle” by this “sacrifice of praise” (Hebrews 13:15).
Ok, the only thing “quick” about these is their ease of remembrance, for each may take some time, sacrifice, and discipline to make them a part of your life but the promise His abiding presence is worth it. After you have gone through these steps a few times, His presence will manifest itself more and more and you will hear His voice more readily as time goes on.
All of these disciplines can come in any order at any time of the day, because
we should always be practicing these steps listed below (1 Thessalonians 5:16-
Get a notebook at your side to record what happens, what you hear and the blessings that the Lord starts to pour out to you as He did with me. You can ready my own “personal presence” testimony, and be sure to come back and give a testimony of your experience so that others may be encouraged.
The Lord ALWAYS MINISTERED to me when I followed this path, always showed up, and always revealed the deeper things; but even so, when the Lord gave me these steps, I went grudgingly. And then, about 3 weeks into it, I started having visions, receiving words, and He started to supernaturally reveal the hidden things in His Word. It opened a door to a fellowship with Him that I had not heard was possible.
Pray about these steps and do whatever you hear the Lord tell you, as he may lead you down different steps into His presence, but I can assure you that these four steps are biblical and they WILL “open doors” if you just do it.
WHAT
: You need to make a conscious decision of what time you will give to the Lord,
just as you decide what time you will give to your work, and do all you can to KEEP
this time because the enemy will surely try to snatch it away.
WHEN: Your bedtime devotions are important, but they are too late to empower you for the tasks you've already faced. You need the morning time for empowerment of WHAT IS TO COME.
The morning is also the best time of the day to do this because your mind is not immersed in the CARES of the day: (work, schedules, tasks, concerns), and immersed in the lives of the other people who are going to demand your time and have need of your concentration.
WHERE: The Most logical place to do this is in your bedroom, where you are when you first get up and before you even rub the sleep from your eyes. Speaking from my own personal experience, I argued with the Lord when He revealed these steps to me and I did so all the way down the stairs, so my “special place” turned out to be a corner of my living room that I never used.
HOW: Find a place where you will not be disturbed, possibly asking the Lord where
HE thinks such a place should be. Next, put the “aids” that you’ll need (see Step
4C ), setting up a special corner of the world just for you and the Lord to meet,
commune, and fellowship.
WHAT: I love how Elisha kept telling others to “be quiet” when t
hey tried to question
him what what the Lord was about to do. Elisha KNEW that he had to be quiet to hear
the “still small voice.” The Lord told Elijah to stand on a mountain for His presence
was about to pass by, but even after an earthquake, fire, and wind so powerful that
it tore the mountain apart, Elijah heard the Lord in a “gentle whisper” (1 Kings
19:11-
WHEN & WHERE: Start listening from the moment you become conscious, before you’ve gotten out of bed. I can share testimony after testimony of ideas, visions, words, pictures of art, thoughts and revelations that would flood in immediately during this time of “awakening”. This whole EXPERIENCE is an awakening season for you. The more you pursue Him, the more He will speak and the more you will hear him.
Expect to Hear him and listen when you are in worship and when you read His word.
HOW: PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!
Part of hearing God’s voice is to quiet our
OWN voice. When we praise him and focus solely on HIM, this helps to get out of ourselves.
Our mind, though wants to rush into our cares, worries, and concerns. Praise will
help you focus on Him, but intentionally listening will quiet your mind before the
Lord. Try to listen, squeezing out any worldly thought that comes into your mind.
Start by telling the Lord that you want to hear what He has to say to you. Ask Him to speak in a way so that you can hear, and then set a timer for 15 minutes. This will be hard to do, and you will find your mind wandering to many other thoughts, so you may need to practice, practice, practice.
Once while I was praying , the Lord reminded me that we cannot hear another when we are talking, so stopping all thoughts and any other words in our head is a valuble discipline that will lead to a receptive heart and head. The more you do this, the easier it will become. You can incorporate listening into your praise time or before you go to step 4.
STUDY, STUDY, STUDY!
Studying God’s word in the original language and meaning is
ideal, but this option is not open to the masses and yet God’s understanding IS.
On the other hand, there is a danger in interpreting God’s word with our fleshly
understanding, lack of wisdom, wordily views, personal opinions and life experiences.
You need the Lord’s interpretation of His will for your life but also His word. God
is quite capable of revealing His truth to you as you submerge yourself into His
word, seek His face, ask and listen.
If you’re comfortable with a Bible study program, group, book, that’s great; and if you’re being helped by it, all the better. What we are talking about in this article is learning how to get into God’s manifest presence where our lives are emptied out and we enter into the place to hear directly from the throne. He will speak through His word to you and so you must take in His word on a regular basis so that He may use it when you are NOT reading His word. I call this my “internal library” that the Holy Spirit uses to teach me when I am going about the rest of my day and seeking His will. The more you take in, the more will come out and you will know that it’s coming from Him for the very fact that you may not be good at memorizing Scripture.
Taking in God’s word is also very important so that you can line up what you hear from the Lord to His Holy Word, for He will not contradict Himself nor give you any truth that is aside from what’s in His book, or what He may give to others. Even if you think that He is giving you some prophesy about world events or such, He will also give that word to many others so all submission must be back onto Him.
The enemy may also try to trip you up by “tweaking” the truth a bit; so again, it’s imperative that you know god’s word, know your Heavenly Father’s voice and hold everything you hear accountable to His word.
logging these revelations down because I can assure you that most of them you will not remember. He will pour out so much to you and sometimes the timing of the revelation is not for today but for later and you WILL FORGET; and thus, you need a method of remembering.
you all the praise and honor that is due you and I say worthy is your name above all names, above my life and above my heart. I want so much more of you and so I ask that you would open the eyes of my heart, Lord, and let me into your chamber where the deeper things are hidden in your word and in your heart. Shine a light on all the dark places of my heart, change me “from glory to glory”, allowing me to walk in the garden with you as just as Adam did. I want to hear your voice more clearly than I ever have and I offer up the sacrifice of my time, my schedule, my very life to obtain such a privilege. Give me ears to hear and I ask that you pour out your strength and wisdom in abundance that I may walk in your will as you show it to me. For YOUR glory, Lord, and not my own, and I ask these things by the blood and name of Jesus Christ.
