ASK, YEILD & SURRENDER
Is He not able to supply you with peace? Is He not able to give you the comfort, affection and attention you need? Ask for comfort, ask for peace, ask for Him to give you strength in whatever situation you’re in, ASK for what you NEED. ASK NOW, not after you’ve stewed or mulled it in your mind for quite some time, thinking of every other avenue and option you have. Stop NOW, TURN AND ASK.
- Run to the Lord
- Find quiet time before him, away from all distractions.
- ASK HIM: “LORD, I feel________________and don’t know why. WHAT is going on in my life, why am I feeling like this and show me what you want me to do”.
- Or if you KNOW what He’s putting a finger on: “LORD, I know that I have sinned by ________________________(name it: my hidden pride and focus on myself, my anger and bitterness at_____, my coveting of________, self centeredness, pride and boasting, lying, gossip and evil thoughts of another, etc.....) and I renounce my sin and ask that you take back all the ground that I gave the enemy thorough my sin as I yield it to your throne, to your control. Thank you for your Forgiveness & mercy and I ask that put your joy & peace in my heart.
Then spend time LISTENING: either in that same chair for a while, or listening for His “still small voice” throughout the day. REST in knowing you are heard and knowing that He WILL REVEAL whatever He wants to you! Be ready to receive it, thank Him ahead of time and praise Him but most of all, do whatever it takes to DROP IT IN HIS LAP and not pick it up again. When you find yourself worrying or fretting about it, say “Jesus conquers, Jesus Saves! I trust in YOU Lord, for all things!”, and find other things to occupy your time, doing this again whenever you find yourself thinking about it.
If you need to find time for YOU: a bubble bath; a walk outdoors; a hobby or sport you enjoy; a good book; a nice dinner or whatever it is that you enjoy, do it, but wait on Him.
When He shows you what He wants to touch: give attention to it and ask HIM to “do the work”, whether it’s a change in your heart that He’s asking you to make...or facing a terrible memory of abuse when you were younger, know that He will WALK YOU THROUGH IT, give you POWER to do whatever HE wants to do so ASK FOR WHAT YOU THINK YOU NEED: healing; grace; mercy; strength; peace; HIS VIEW of something; HIS DIRECTION or whatever it is you think He is trying to do in your life, ask and yield it to Him now.
